Our international partners
The collaboration between the Diabetic Kidney Care service and the Kidney Foundation Hospital & Research Institute of Bangladesh is officially recognised by the International Society of Nephrology.
The Kidney Foundation Hospital and research institute of Bangladesh was officially formed in June 2002, with a capital investment of just $1000 and only 7 staff. Back then, they had only 6 dialysis machines which were all loaned to them, a diagnostic facility and a small outpatient service.
They are now a 150 bed hospital with 220 staff, providing kidney treatment in a modern state of the art facility, as well as many research projects within their laboratory. On top of this they have grown into an education centre, providing training for many different healthcare professionals, and are now recognised as a referral centre, along with another 10 foundations.
In 2017 they joined in partnership with the Royal London Hospital (Diabetic Kidney Disease Centre) to work on a new research project: Validating Continuous Glucose Monitoring Technology in Haemodialysis Patients. Now, in 2019, The Kidney foundation Hospital and Research institute of Bangladesh and the Diabetic Kidney Disease Centre are officially recognised as a Level B partnership by the ISN (International Society of Nephrology), awarded due to the accomplishments of the partnership within the SRC program.
